Friday Update: 11/17/2006, 4:30 PM E.S.T.
Deb passed a comfortable night in the ICU and hopes to be transferred to the regular floor over the weekend. This should make visitation less of an issue but please try to coordinate with family by calling the hospital ward beforehand. Deb is being seen by physical and occupational therapists and is awaiting her final pathology report over the weekend prior to hopefully being released sometime next week to go home for Thanksgiving.

Great piece of advice from Ant in her post to park across from the hospital at the Beverly Center rather than the Cedars parking lot.

We do hope to have more updates over the weekend. Again, please do post your comments or email to get them up on the blog.

Parking and such...

Bring at least $20.00 for parking! It is generally $15.00 to park. No cheap parking there! Unless you are willing to walk.

There is valet available but it will cost you. The parking spots are VERY tiny so leave the big SUV and hummers at home. Peak visiting hours are the worst! So give yourself plenty of time to park.

The cafe is wonderful and is open until 7pm. Modest prices. It is a restaurant and not a cafeteria. There is also a cafeteria that serves the usual hospital food. Also, there is the famous Hard Rock Cafe across the street and several other unique Los Angeles restaurants to eat at. There is a wonderful Cuban restaurant "Versailles" down the street, but you will need to drive to, it on San Vincente. I guess you could walk. The Famous Jerry's deli is walking distance. For Fancier restaurants, Lawry's or Morton's Steakhouse are just down the street (this is where the football teams go and oscar/Emmy parties are)

So I hope this helps anyone from out of town. This area is full of great places to eat while waiting to see Deb.

Finally, traffic is terrible almost 24 hours a day in the area and the people are terrible drivers. High energy area. Good area for Debbie to be in, food and fun! No wonder she is hungry she is in the food mecca!

God speed. Kimmie

Hi Deb,
Glad to hear you are making progress. A few of the girls are coming out this weekend from CT to visit and bring our love and best wishes with them. We continue to pray for you and your family,

Awesome progress. Typical of Deb. Again, I was thinking - now she has the perfect excuse for all of those times she tripped over unseen wrinkles in the carpet, or spilled food on a blouse...(brain tumor). And, Deb, NOW you could say the same about the time e-harmony used your bio to match you up with the fat, hairy guy who liked to cross-dress, and we couldn't figure out why they matched you up with him/her.... must have been the tumor. Keep up the progress! I love reading that you're doing well. Knock 'em out!
Mollie

Hi Debbie,
Just wanted to let you know that we've been SO worried about you this past week. We heard about the blog site this morning--what a great way for everyone to keep up on your progress! (Cyber-challenged people like me have never been on one--duh!) I know you've had Mom, Amy and Jimmy with you and heard that your Dad is coming too. Mem and Pep are saying their rosaries every day for you--yes, Pep too! She's even got him watching Mass on TV with her...which shows you that wonders will never cease! Sounds like you have some wonderful friends standing by and supporting you--I'm sure that helps keep your spirits up. Know that your family in Florida is pulling for you too and sending lots of love.
Your cousin, Jeanne
