Another day, another surgery: 11/15/2006, 19:11 EST
Based on the most recent MRI, Dr Yu and his team have decided to operate on Deb again tomorrow, where they will go after what they hope is the remaining 5% of the tumor. In addition, we are still awaiting the findings of final pathology report. By all accounts Deb is doing well and is in good spirits, and, we have some great first-hand updates and further details from Kim (see comments from the previous posting).

We're still working on a non-family visiting hours schedule for this weekend. In principle, ICU restricts to one 15 minute visit per hour for up to 3 visitors. We hope to be able to organize 2-3 slots of non-family visitations per day depending, of course, on how Deb is feeling. We do hope everyone will get a chance to see her, but stress the need for everyone to be flexible and understanding.

Antonietta, Deb's college friend from Fitchburg State and herself an ICU nurse, will be staying with Deb tonight so Deb's mother can get some rest. From what we hear, Deb has been keeping the nurses on their toes and has even petitioned for longer beds to comfortably accommodate someone of her stature.

We'll keep you up to date on the progress of Deb's surgery tomorrow. We encourage everyone to read the comments (especially for valuable extra information from Kim and family members) and do of course leave messages of encouragement for Deb (please sign your posts so we know who has visited). While Amy (the blog-maven) is visiting Deb this weekend, her lesser half will be home alone (with new baby Andrea for the first time!*$#!) and also be doing the updates. Please feel free to email Brian with any information, and do send in any photos you'd like to see in the blog. Thanks!

Brian and Amy, we can't thank you enough for posting. We are living and breathing based on your information. Debbie IS too tall for the average hospital bed. Perhaps in addition to the boob and nose job, they could do something about that...
Seriously - I'm praying non-stop for her, my friend and mentor, and my family members all have her on their church prayer chains. (they're freakishly in touch with God Southern Baptists) Relay this to Debbie for me, and kiss her.

Please let Deb know that I'm thinking about her constantly and praying for her non-stop. Best of luck tomorrow! I know you'll do just fine.

Deb,

It's me again, Nikki, Amy and Everyone else is doing a great job keeping us all up to date with what's going on. It's though when some of us are so far away, wishing we could be there! Just wanted to let you know that my whole family is rooting for you, my parents say they're praying for "HOOVER" if you remember they used to call you that in HS? And of course my sis Amy (who is an ER Nurse) is helping to explain things to me too! Anyway, just wanted to wish you the best for today!!! Thinking about you constantly.
Hugs and Kisses,
Nikki

Deb,

Just returned from vacation, read your e-mail about CA and Amgen and read the news of your ill-health. My wife, the triplets and myself have you in our mind and prayers. You have numerous great friends and with all our prayers and your fighting spirit, you will be fine.

Please stay strong and positive.

Brian and Amy,

What can I say about your keeping us informed...... just THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU......... THANK YOU.

Love and Warmest Wishes,

Patrick, Scholastica and the Triplets (CT)

Deb!

I charged the Reiki crystal grid again today. It is dedicated to you and your recovery......sending you love and hugs today and special prayers for your successful surgery.

I reconnected to Marsha Tennis, RN this week to see if she could help tap in to any of our former MGH colleagues who know you and can send prayers. Marsha sends her love and offered to be a resource to you and your family. Her husband was diagnosed with glioblastoma 18 months ago, so she is walking this path with him. I am certain she could share some important information with you if it is of interest.

Again, sending positive energy today and always.

Love and Bright Beacons of Hope from Boston,
Karin Graefe

Hi Deb,
I am glad to hear you are keeping the nurses and staff on their toes. It brought a smile to our faces knowing that your fiesty personality is shining through. Keep giving them hell. Liv and I are thinking and praying for you everyday and recruited our families from NY and VA to pray for you as well. Keep up the good fight.

We love you,
Jamie and Liv

Quick update: Debbie is in surgery now. She went in at 7:30 am pacific time. They anticipate the surgery will take approximately 3-4 hours (ideally). So they should be very close to finishing. If I get any further updates I will immediately post another comment.

May God give strength to our dear Debbie, her family and give the guideance to the doctors to rid her of the pain.
