Amy Doherty (Deb's sister) Update April 14, 2008 8:00 AM

Debbie had another MRI today. The news was not as good as usual. She has progressed and it appears there may be new growth in both her left and right frontal lobes. Dr. Cloughsey put her on a new chemo drug, so she is now doing a combo of Avastin and Carboplatin. Her next MRI is in four weeks to make sure she responds to this new treatment. Debbie will be in New England July 3rd through the 10th. She's excited to catch up.

Thanks for keeping Debbie in your thoughts and prayers,

Amy Doherty

Debbie,
I am sorry to hear this news, however, you have proven to beat the odds throughout all of this, and I have no doubt that you will continue to do so. I am always praying for you and have added your name to the prayer book at my church, so there are many others out here praying for you too. I can't wait for you to come out for your visit in July. I'm looking forward to seeing you then. Keep us updated on how you're doing. Love ya!

Debbie,

Not easy news to hear, but I trust your positive attitude will serve you well in your ongoing recovery. It seems you are not alone in your struggle. I was just watching a news video moments ago and saw that Sen. Kennedy of Massachusetts was just diagnosed with glioma, which may possibly be glioblastoma. Anyway, I immediately thought of you....and checked the blog to get your news.

You are in my thoughts and prayers always. I look forward to your visit to New England. Should there be a gathering/ party for the Debster, I will be there.

Keep up the miso and brown rice, please.

Bright beacons from the East,
Bea

does anyone know what Deb's schedule is going to be like when she's in NE? Maybe it could be posted for those of us who may be traveling from out of state to NE also? I am sure she will be visiting with quite a lot of family/friends so I was just wondering....especially if there's going to be a gathering/party for Deb.
Thanks,,
Nikki

Hi Nikki:

Debbie will be in MA from Thursday (7/3) to Sunday (7/6) night. We are having a family party at my dad's on the 4th of July that you are welcome to attend (I'm not sure of the time yet). Debbie will also be at a cookout at Mary's family's house in Portsmouth, RI on Saturday. That party is an all-day party that everyone is welcome to attend. I will post more details on that party soon. She'll be with Amy Cav in CT on Monday and Tuesday, returning to dad's on Wed. morning, I believe. Then she's flying back to CA the next day (7/10). Hope to see you again when Debbie's home. It really has been a long time. I saw your beautiful wedding pictures. Congratulations!

Amy

Well then. I'm not happy about that. And thanks, Bea - now everytime I think of Debbie, she resembles Ted Kennedy...What's UP with Massachusetts and glioma anyway?
Good to have Deb's schedule. I'll see what can be done to get up to NE to see my favorite skinny person.
