Hi Deb,

YEAH!! This is the GREAT news I was hoping for after I saw your previous recent posts. I am thrilled for you.

And, hooray for short guys!! I've been out with a few short guys recently (nothing serious).....claiming 5'8" but actually 5'5" to 5'6." I have not run into 5'4" yet. Funny how the guys have a different way of measuring height than we do. I hope things continue to go well for you and Charlie. I agree, there are some wonderful short guys.

Keep celebrating!!

Warm healing beacons,
Bea

Results from a Phase II study showed that Genentech's Avastin (bevacizumab), in combination with irinotecan, increased survival rates in patients with recurrent glioblastoma multiforme. The findings are published in the current issue of the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

In the trial, a total of 35 patients with recurrent glioblastoma multiforme received a combination of Avastin plus irinotecan. The findings showed that six-month progression-free survival among all patients was 46 percent, and six-month overall survival was 77 percent. Additionally, 20 of the patients in the trial experienced at least a partial response to the combination therapy, the results demonstrated.

The researchers, who noted that the current prognosis for this patient group is a median survival of three to six months, commented that the study data represent "improved outcomes for patients with this cancer." Lead researcher, James Vredenburgh added that "there is no standard treatment that improves survival, so this is extremely promising."
